Fobos-Grunt

Fobos-Grunt was a Russian spacecraft launched in 2011 with the goal of exploring Mars and its moon, Phobos. It was designed to land on Phobos, collect samples, and return them to Earth. However, due to technical failures shortly after launch, it got stuck in Earth's orbit and couldn't reach Mars. The spacecraft eventually re-entered Earth's atmosphere and mostly burned up in January 2012. The mission was an ambitious attempt to study Mars and its moon but ended prematurely due to technical issues, marking a setback for Russia's planetary exploration efforts.
