Babylonian culture

Babylonian culture flourished in ancient Mesopotamia, especially during the 18th to 6th centuries BCE. It is known for advancements in law, literature, and astronomy, with the famous Code of Hammurabi being one of the earliest legal codes. Babylonians practiced a polytheistic religion, worshipping gods like Marduk, and contributed significantly to mathematics, developing a base-60 number system. Their epic poem, the "Epic of Gilgamesh," is one of the earliest works of literature. Babylon was a cultural and political center, marked by impressive architecture, including the ziggurat and the Hanging Gardens, one of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World.
