Australian Imperial Force
The Australian Imperial Force (AIF) was the main military force of Australia during World War I. Established in 1914, it comprised volunteers who served overseas as part of the British Empire's efforts in the war. The AIF fought in several significant battles, including Gallipoli and the Western Front, earning a reputation for bravery. After the war, the AIF was disbanded in 1921. Its legacy has had a lasting impact on Australia's national identity and commemorations, particularly on Anzac Day, which honors the sacrifices made by Australian and New Zealand troops.
