Anglo-Maratha Wars
The Anglo-Maratha Wars were a series of conflicts in the 18th and early 19th centuries between the British East India Company and the Maratha Empire in India. There were three main wars: the first (1775-1782) ended with a treaty favoring the Marathas; the second (1803-1805) resulted in British victories and territorial gains; and the third (1817-1818) led to the collapse of the Maratha power and significant British control over India. These wars marked the decline of the Maratha Empire and the rise of British dominance in the subcontinent, shaping India’s future.
