Scindia (Sindhia)

Scindia (or Sindhia) refers to a prominent Maratha royal family and princely state in India, traditionally ruling parts of central India from the 18th to 20th centuries. The family was known for their military prowess, political influence, and contributions to regional stability during the decline of Mughal power and the rise of British dominance. Their leadership played a key role in resisting colonial expansion and shaping regional history. Today, the name remains associated with Indian history, politics, and certain regions, notably the Gwalior state from which many family members emerged.
