William I of Sicily

William I of Sicily, also known as William the Bad, ruled from 1154 to 1166. He was the son of Roger II, the first king of Sicily, and faced challenges due to his unpopular reign and weak leadership. William's rule was marked by conflicts with the nobility and issues of governance, leading to rebellion. Despite his flaws, he oversaw some cultural development in Sicily, a melting pot of different civilizations. His reign ended with his death in 1166, after which his son, William II, ascended the throne, leading to a different approach to governance.
