The Inca Empire, which thrived in South America from the early 15th to the mid-16th century, was divided into three main regions: 1. **Inland (Sierra)**: This mountainous area featured the Andes and was crucial for agriculture, particularly potatoes and quinoa. 2. **Coastal (Costa)**: Stretching along the Pacific Ocean, this region relied on fishing and farming, with crops like maize and cotton thriving in its arid climate. 3. **Jungle (Selva)**: The Amazon rainforest region, rich in biodiversity, offered unique resources and served as a challenging frontier for the Incas, with less territorial administration compared to the other regions.
