The Thyroid

The thyroid is a small, butterfly-shaped gland located in the front of your neck. It produces hormones that regulate metabolism, energy levels, and body temperature. These hormones also play a crucial role in growth and development. The thyroid works closely with a part of the brain called the pituitary gland, which helps control hormone production. When the thyroid is not functioning properly, it can lead to conditions such as hypothyroidism (too little hormone) or hyperthyroidism (too much hormone), affecting various bodily functions and overall health. Regular check-ups can help monitor and maintain thyroid health.
