Second Intermediate Period

The Second Intermediate Period (c. 1782–1570 BCE) in Ancient Egypt was a time of political instability and foreign influence. After the Middle Kingdom, Egypt faced invasions by the Hyksos, a group from Western Asia. These rulers took control of the Nile Delta and introduced new technologies, such as war chariots and improved weaponry. The period is marked by a divided Egypt, with the Hyksos ruling in the north and native Egyptian rulers in the south. It ended when the Egyptians expelled the Hyksos, leading to the New Kingdom, a time of renewed power and unity.
