Mummy

A mummy is a preserved body, typically from ancient Egypt, created through a process called embalming. This involved removing internal organs, drying out the body with natron (a natural salt), and wrapping it in linen bandages. The purpose of mummification was to prepare the deceased for the afterlife, as Egyptians believed in an eternal existence beyond death. Mummies were often placed in elaborate tombs, filled with artifacts that the deceased might need. The most famous mummy is that of Pharaoh Tutankhamun, discovered in 1922, which has contributed significantly to our understanding of ancient Egyptian culture and beliefs.
