Avaris
Avaris was an ancient Egyptian city, specifically the capital of the Hyksos during their rule in the 15th century BCE. Located in the Nile Delta, it served as a major hub for trade and military operations. The Hyksos, a group of foreign rulers, introduced new technologies, such as the chariot, to Egypt. Avaris is significant in understanding this period of foreign influence, its eventual decline, and the subsequent reunification of Egypt. Archaeological excavations have revealed much about its architecture, culture, and the interaction between the Hyksos and native Egyptians.
