Sandinista National Liberation Front

The Sandinista National Liberation Front (FSLN) is a Nicaraguan political party founded in 1961. It emerged as a revolutionary movement aiming to overthrow the repressive dictatorship of Anastasio Somoza. In 1979, the FSLN successfully led a revolution that resulted in the Somoza regime's fall. The party established a socialist government, focusing on land reform, health care, and education. However, it faced opposition and a civil war fueled by the U.S. support for Contra rebels. Over the years, the FSLN has evolved from a revolutionary movement to a prominent political party in Nicaragua, continuing to influence the country's politics today.
