FSLN (Frente Sandinista de Liberación Nacional)
The Frente Sandinista de Liberación Nacional (FSLN) is a political and revolutionary movement in Nicaragua, founded in the early 1960s. Named after Augusto César Sandino, they fought to end regional inequality and dictatorship, leading to revolutionary overthrow of the Somoza family dictatorship in 1979. After the revolution, FSLN leaders established a socialist government focused on social reforms, education, and land redistribution. Over time, the movement evolved into a political party that has held power intermittently, shaping Nicaragua’s policies and development, often amid debates over democracy, human rights, and economic reforms.
