Sandinista government

The Sandinista government in Nicaragua refers to the administration established after the Sandinista National Liberation Front (FSLN) overthrew the dictatorship in 1979. Named after Augusto César Sandino, the FSLN aimed to implement social reforms, improve education, healthcare, and land rights, and reduce inequality. The government was characterized by socialist policies, nationalization of industries, and strong opposition to U.S. influence, leading to regional and Cold War conflicts. In the 1990 elections, the Sandinistas lost power, but they remained an influential political force in Nicaragua’s history and politics.
