Salah ad-Din al-Ayyubi

Salah ad-Din al-Ayyubi, commonly known as Saladin, was a prominent Arab leader during the 12th century, famed for his role in the Crusades. Born in 1137 in Tikrit, he founded the Ayyubid Dynasty and became the first Sultan of Egypt and Syria. He is best known for uniting Muslim forces and recapturing Jerusalem from the Crusaders in 1187, which marked a significant turning point in the conflict.
