Ribosomal biogenesis pathway

Ribosomal biogenesis is the process by which cells produce ribosomes, essential machinery for protein synthesis. It occurs mainly in the nucleolus, a specialized region within the cell nucleus. First, ribosomal RNA (rRNA) is transcribed from DNA. This rRNA then combines with proteins to form ribosomal subunits. These subunits exit the nucleus into the cytoplasm, where they join together with messenger RNA (mRNA) to translate genetic information into proteins. Essentially, ribosomal biogenesis is crucial for cell function, growth, and overall health, as proteins play vital roles in nearly all biological processes.
