Prokaryotic ribosome
A prokaryotic ribosome is a molecular machine found in bacteria and other single-celled organisms that produces proteins. It reads instructions from genetic material (RNA) and assembles amino acids into proteins, which are essential for the cell's functions. These ribosomes are made up of two subunits that work together to translate genetic code into proteins. Although smaller than those in more complex cells, prokaryotic ribosomes are highly efficient and vital for the survival of these organisms. They are also the target of certain antibiotics that inhibit bacterial protein synthesis.
