Republic of Artsakh

The Republic of Artsakh, also known as Nagorno-Karabakh, is a disputed region in the South Caucasus. It declared independence from Azerbaijan in the early 1990s, following a war that arose from ethnic tensions between Armenians and Azerbaijanis. Although it has its own government and operates like an independent state, most countries, including Azerbaijan, do not recognize its sovereignty. The region has experienced ongoing conflicts, especially between Armenia and Azerbaijan, leading to renewed tensions and violence in recent years. The situation remains complex, involving issues of ethnic identity, territorial claims, and international diplomacy.
