NKR Army

The NKR Army, also known as the Artsakh Defense Army, is the military force of the self-declared Republic of Artsakh (Nagorno-Karabakh), which is a region internationally recognized as part of Azerbaijan but has a majority ethnic Armenian population. Established in the early 1990s during the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict, the NKR Army emerged to defend the region from Azerbaijani forces. It has engaged in several military confrontations, notably during the 2016 and 2020 clashes. The army is supported by Armenia and symbolizes the region's aspirations for self-determination amid ongoing tensions between Armenia and Azerbaijan.
