Razakar movement

The Razakar movement was a paramilitary organization in India during the late 1940s, specifically in Hyderabad. Formed by the Majlis-e-Ittehad-ul-Muslimeen (MIM), the Razakars aimed to resist the integration of Hyderabad into India after its independence in 1947. They sought to maintain the Nizam's rule and promote Muslim interests. The movement was marked by violence and repression against those advocating for Hyderabad's merger with India. In 1948, the Indian government intervened militarily, leading to Hyderabad's integration into India and the eventual dissolution of the Razakar organization. This period was significant in Indian post-colonial history and state integration.
