Rawlsian Theory

Rawlsian Theory, developed by philosopher John Rawls, is a framework for thinking about justice and fairness in society. It proposes that principles of justice should be chosen behind a "veil of ignorance," where individuals do not know their own social status, talents, or personal circumstances. This ensures that the rules created are fair and impartial, as no one would design a system that could disadvantage themselves. Key concepts include the "difference principle," which allows inequalities only if they benefit the least advantaged members of society, promoting a fair distribution of resources and opportunities.
