Quaternary Period

The Quaternary Period is the most recent geological era, spanning the last 2.6 million years to today. It is characterized by significant climate changes, including repeated ice ages, where large parts of the Earth were covered in ice. This period saw the evolution of modern humans, as well as drastic shifts in flora and fauna. The Quaternary is divided into two epochs: the Pleistocene, marked by ice ages, and the Holocene, which encompasses the current warm period and the development of human civilization, agriculture, and urbanization. It highlights the dynamic relationship between climate and living organisms.
