PPR (Polish People's Republic)

The Polish People's Republic (PPR) was a socialist state in Central Europe that existed from 1947 until 1989. It emerged after World War II when Poland fell under Soviet influence. The government was characterized by a single-party system, dominated by the Polish United Workers' Party, and was marked by economic centralization, nationalization of industries, and limited political freedoms. The PPR faced various social and economic challenges, leading to unrest and demands for reform, notably during the Solidarity movement in the 1980s, which ultimately contributed to the collapse of communism in Poland and the establishment of a democratic government.
