Solidarność
Solidarność, or Solidarity, was a major Polish labor and political movement founded in 1980 at the Gdańsk Shipyard, advocating for workers' rights, social reforms, and greater political freedom under communist rule. It quickly grew into a broad anti-communist movement that challenged the government's authority, uniting workers, intellectuals, and activists. Solidarity played a crucial role in pressuring the Polish government to adopt reforms, contributing significantly to the peaceful end of communism in Poland and inspiring similar movements across Eastern Europe, ultimately leading to the collapse of communist regimes in the region.
