"Barykada"

A "barykada" (or barricade) is a physical barrier constructed to block or control movement. Often made from materials like metal, wood, or concrete, barykadys are used during protests, conflicts, or emergencies to safeguard areas, restrict access, or separate groups. They serve both as protective fortifications and as tools for asserting control over a space. In urban settings, barykadys can also be temporary structures meant to direct pedestrian or vehicle flow or to prevent violence from spreading. Essentially, it’s a deliberate obstacle designed to influence movement or provide security in a given environment.
