PRL (Polska Rzeczpospolita Ludowa)

PRL, or Polska Rzeczpospolita Ludowa (Polish People's Republic), was Poland's socialist state from 1952 to 1989, established under Soviet influence during the Cold War. It was characterized by a communist government, state ownership of industry, and centralized planning. While it aimed to create equality and social welfare, political freedoms were limited, with power concentrated in the communist party and Soviet-aligned leadership. In 1989, democratic reforms led to the end of PRL and the transition to the modern democratic Republic of Poland.
