Porfirio Díaz
Porfirio Díaz was a Mexican general and politician who served as President of Mexico for multiple terms between 1876 and 1911. His rule is known as the "Porfiriato," characterized by modernization and economic growth, but also by political repression and inequalities. Díaz focused on stabilizing and industrializing the country, attracting foreign investment and improving infrastructure. However, his authoritarian approach led to widespread dissent and unrest, culminating in the Mexican Revolution in 1910. Díaz eventually resigned and went into exile, marking a significant turning point in Mexico's political and social history.
