Plasma cell dyscrasia

Plasma cell dyscrasia refers to a group of disorders where abnormal plasma cells—immune cells that produce antibodies—proliferate or function improperly. These conditions, such as multiple myeloma and monoclonal gammopathy of undetermined significance (MGUS), can lead to an excess of a specific type of antibody in the blood, which can cause various health problems. Symptoms may include bone pain, fatigue, and increased risk of infections. Diagnosis typically involves blood tests and imaging studies, and treatment may include medications, chemotherapy, or stem cell transplants, depending on the severity of the condition.
