Immunoglobulins

Immunoglobulins, also known as antibodies, are specialized proteins produced by the immune system to identify and neutralize harmful invaders like bacteria, viruses, and toxins. They circulate in the blood and other body fluids, recognizing specific markers on these invaders. When they bind to their target, they help to stop the threat and activate other immune responses to eliminate it. Different types of immunoglobulins (such as IgG, IgA, IgM, IgE, and IgD) have specific roles in protecting the body, whether by preventing infections at mucosal surfaces, activating immune cells, or fighting off parasites.
