IgE

Immunoglobulin E (IgE) is a type of antibody produced by the immune system, primarily involved in defending the body against parasitic infections and playing a key role in allergic reactions. When the immune system encounters substances like pollen, dust mites, or certain foods, IgE antibodies recognize these allergens and trigger the release of chemicals like histamine. This response causes allergy symptoms such as sneezing, itching, and swelling. In some people, IgE production is heightened, leading to allergic conditions, whereas in others, it helps protect against specific parasites.
