Th2 immune response
The Th2 immune response is a part of the body's defense system that focuses on combating allergens and certain types of infections, particularly those caused by parasites. When the body detects these threats, specialized cells known as T-helper 2 (Th2) cells are activated. They release signals that enhance the activity of other immune cells, such as B cells, which produce antibodies. This response helps organize a targeted defense, particularly by producing antibodies that neutralize toxins and activate other immune mechanisms. However, excessive Th2 activity can contribute to allergic reactions and asthma.
