CD4+ T cells

CD4+ T cells, also known as helper T cells, are a type of white blood cell crucial for the immune system. They help coordinate the body's response to infections by signaling other immune cells to act. When they recognize foreign invaders, like viruses or bacteria, they release substances that activate B cells (which produce antibodies) and other T cells, enhancing the immune response. A healthy count of CD4+ T cells is essential for a strong immune system, and their decline is often associated with conditions like HIV/AIDS, where the body struggles to fight infections effectively.
