Planning Commission

The Planning Commission was an institution in India established in 1950 to formulate and oversee the country's economic development plans. Its primary role was to create five-year plans aimed at improving the nation’s economic and social conditions by allocating resources effectively. The Commission worked on various sectors, including agriculture, industry, and infrastructure, to promote balanced growth. In 2015, it was replaced by the NITI Aayog (National Institution for Transforming India), which has a more flexible approach to planning and focuses on cooperative federalism and sustainable development.
