Planning Commission of India
The Planning Commission of India was a government body responsible for formulating and guiding the country's economic development strategies through five-year plans. It coordinated efforts across various sectors, allocated resources, and set priorities to achieve balanced growth and reduce poverty. Established in 1950, it aimed to promote social and economic progress, but was replaced in 2015 by the NITI Aayog, which now focuses on cooperative federalism and continuous policy advice. The commission played a key role in shaping India's development path during its existence.
