National Planning Commission
The National Planning Commission (NPC) is a government body in India that focuses on creating and implementing strategies for the country's economic and social development. Established in 1950, it aims to improve living standards and reduce poverty through careful planning and policy-making. The NPC formulates five-year plans, evaluates progress, and coordinates efforts between different states and sectors. While it played a central role for decades, its importance has diminished with the advent of new planning frameworks, such as the NITI Aayog, which promotes more flexible and innovative approaches to development.
