Phototransduction is the process by which our eyes convert light into electrical signals, enabling us to see. When light hits the retina, it stimulates photoreceptor cells called rods and cones. These cells contain pigments that change structure when exposed to light, triggering a series of chemical reactions. This process generates electrical impulses that travel through the optic nerve to the brain, which interprets them as visual images.
