Opsins
Opsins are special proteins located in the cells of the eye that help us see by detecting light. When light enters the eye, it interacts with opsins, causing a chemical change that triggers signals to our brain. This process allows us to perceive images and colors. Different types of opsins are sensitive to various wavelengths of light, which enable color vision. Essentially, opsins act as biological light sensors, translating light information into signals our brain interprets as sight. They are fundamental to how we perceive the visual world.
