Panipat is a city in the Indian state of Haryana, known for its historical significance. It is famously the site of three major battles in the 18th century: the First Battle of Panipat (1761), which marked a crucial conflict in the struggle for power between the Maratha Empire and Afghan forces; the Second (1857), which was part of India’s first war of independence; and the Third (1947), related to the post-Partition struggle. Today, Panipat is also noted for its textile industry, making it an important economic center in the region.
