Non-Proliferation of Nuclear Weapons

The Non-Proliferation of Nuclear Weapons (NPT) is an international treaty aimed at preventing the spread of nuclear weapons, promoting peaceful uses of nuclear energy, and fostering disarmament. It was opened for signature in 1968, and has three main pillars: non-proliferation, disarmament, and the right to peacefully use nuclear technology. Countries that join the treaty agree not to develop nuclear weapons if they don't have them and to pursue disarmament if they do. The goal is to create a safer world by reducing the risk of nuclear conflict and encouraging peaceful cooperation in nuclear energy.
