Nikita Khrushchev
Nikita Khrushchev was a Soviet leader who served as First Secretary of the Communist Party from 1953 to 1964 and as Premier from 1958 to 1964. He is known for his efforts to de-Stalinize the Soviet Union, promoting reforms that aimed to reduce oppression and increase agricultural production. Khrushchev also played a key role during the Cold War, notably in the Cuban Missile Crisis, which brought the U.S. and the Soviet Union close to nuclear conflict. His leadership was marked by a mix of bravado and economic struggles, ultimately leading to his removal from power in 1964.
