Montezuma's Revenge
Montezuma's Revenge is a colloquial term for traveler’s diarrhea, typically experienced by tourists visiting Mexico and other regions with different sanitation standards. Named after the Aztec ruler Montezuma II, it refers to the gastrointestinal upset caused by consuming contaminated food or water. Symptoms include nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, and abdominal cramps. Although it can be uncomfortable and inconvenient, it usually resolves within a few days. To reduce the risk, travelers are advised to drink bottled water, avoid street food, and be cautious with raw fruits and vegetables.
