Montezuma II

Montezuma II was the ninth ruler of the Aztec Empire, reigning from 1502 until 1520. He is often remembered for his encounters with Spanish conquistador Hernán Cortés, which led to the eventual fall of the Aztec Empire. Montezuma is known for his vast wealth, cultural achievements, and the expansion of the empire, but also for the challenges he faced as European powers began to infiltrate his territory. His reign is marked by a blend of political strength and vulnerability, ultimately resulting in a significant cultural clash and the decline of one of Mesoamerica's greatest civilizations.
