Macedonian Renaissance

The Macedonian Renaissance refers to a cultural and intellectual revival in the medieval Bulgarian Empire during the 10th to 11th centuries. It emerged after the establishment of Little Bulgaria as a significant center of Slavic learning and art, largely due to the influence of Byzantine culture. This period saw advancements in literature, art, and theology, as well as the creation of important Slavic manuscripts. Notable figures like Saints Cyril and Methodius were pivotal in spreading literacy and the Orthodox Christian faith. The movement greatly influenced Slavic cultural identity and the development of the Bulgarian state.
