Romanos II

Romanos II was a Byzantine emperor who ruled from 959 to 963 AD. He was the son of Emperor Constantine VII and became known for his ineffective leadership and reliance on his advisors. His reign was marked by military campaigns against the Arabs and Byzantium's territorial expansion. Romanos II was married to the powerful empress Theophano, who played a significant role in politics. However, his reign was short-lived, ending with his death in 963, likely due to illness. His passing led to a period of political instability and the eventual ascension of his successor, Nikephoros II Phokas.
