Li Si (Chinese philosopher and politician)

Li Si was a prominent Chinese philosopher and politician during the Qin Dynasty (221-206 BCE). He is best known for his role in implementing Legalism, a strict political philosophy emphasizing law and order over morality and ethics. Li Si served as the chancellor under the first Emperor of China, Qin Shi Huang, and helped unify the country through reforms, such as standardizing weights, measures, and writing. While his policies strengthened the state, they also led to a harsh and repressive regime. Li Si's ideas and practices have significantly influenced Chinese governance and legal thought throughout history.
