King Faisal I of Iraq (1885-1933) was a pivotal figure in the establishment of modern Iraq. Born in the Hejaz region, he became a leader during the Arab Revolt against Ottoman rule during World War I. In 1921, he was appointed as Iraq's king after the country gained independence from Britain. His reign focused on unifying the diverse ethnic and religious groups within Iraq and developing the nation’s infrastructure. Faisal I promoted modernization and education, laying the groundwork for Iraqi statehood. He ruled until his death in 1933, leaving a significant impact on Iraq’s national identity.
