Great Arab Revolt

The Great Arab Revolt (1916-1918) was a rebellion by Arab nationalists against the Ottoman Empire, which controlled much of the Middle East. Inspired by promises of independence from Britain, Arabs sought to create their own nations. The revolt involved guerrilla warfare and alliances to weaken Ottoman control. It coincided with World War I, and although it aimed for Arab self-rule, the post-war treaties led to British and French mandates over the region, shaping modern Middle Eastern borders. The revolt is remembered as a key moment in Arab efforts for independence.
