Iraqi monarchy

The Iraqi monarchy was a period from 1921 to 1958 when Iraq was ruled by kings, mainly from the Hashemite family, under a constitutional framework. It was established after British influence led to the formation of a kingdom, with King Faisal I as the first ruler. The monarchy worked alongside a parliamentary system, but power was often concentrated in the king's hands. In 1958, a military coup deposed the monarchy, replacing it with a republic, ending the Hashemite rule and leading to a new political era in Iraq.
