Kashmir Issue
The Kashmir issue refers to the territorial conflict between India and Pakistan over the region of Jammu and Kashmir. After the partition of British India in 1947, princely states could choose to join either India or Pakistan. The ruler of Kashmir, a majority-Muslim region, chose to join India, leading to war between the two countries. Since then, both nations have claimed Kashmir, resulting in several wars and ongoing tensions. The region is divided into areas administered by India, Pakistan, and China, with people experiencing political, social, and military challenges. Efforts for resolution have been complicated and remain unresolved.
