Jumper's Knee
Jumper's knee, officially known as patellar tendinopathy, is a condition that affects the tendon connecting the kneecap (patella) to the shinbone (tibia). It is commonly found in athletes, especially those involved in sports that require jumping, like basketball or volleyball. The repetitive stress of jumping can cause inflammation and pain in the tendon. Symptoms typically include pain around the kneecap, particularly during and after activity. Treatment often involves rest, physical therapy, and sometimes ice or anti-inflammatory medication to reduce pain and promote healing. In some cases, more advanced treatments may be necessary.
